Catherine Binnie

I was born in London in 1964 and grew up in Oxford. Having gained a degree in Fine Art,
Sculpture from Wimbledon school of Art, I spent several years living in London and making
sculpture. I moved back to Oxfordshire in 1990 and took up painting. In 2014, I moved to the
Cotswolds where I now have a studio next to Charlbury railway station. I take part in
Oxfordshire artweeks and open the studio twice a year. At other times I welcome visitors by
appointment. I also run stone carving workshops and details can be found on the STONE CARVING WORKSHOPS page.

I derive the inspiration for my work from the natural world and from daily life, the human form,
relationships, the gentle landscape of Oxfordshire, trees, flowers, birds, the sea, changing seasons and
light. I have a love of natural materials, stone, pigment, hand-made paper, charcoal and ink.

My work has been widely exhibited and can be found in private collections and public spaces. Sculpture and painting also made to commission.
